Program Director 

Dr. Sun is the Program Director of the Flushing Hospital OBGYN residency program. She completed her undergraduate and medical degrees at Washington University in St. Louis, and her OBGYN residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Prior to coming to Flushing Hospital, Dr. Sun worked at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, serving as the Site Director of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine OBGYN residency program. 

Dr. Sun is very active in the areas of medical education, surgical simulation, clinical research, as well as global health. She currently serves on the ACOG CREOG Examination Committee, and is a graduate of the APGO Academic Scholars and Leaders Program. Her research interests include the implementation of low-cost, high efficacy health interventions in low-resource settings, simulation techniques to improve surgical education, and the validation and implementation of early warning systems for obstetrics patients. Her global health priorities include performing surgical missions in an ethical, sustainable and socially responsible manner, as well as urogenital fistula prevention and repair. Her clinical focuses include minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, family planning and contraceptive services, and gynecologic services for the LBGTQ community.

ADEETI GUPTA , MD

Director of Performance Improvement and Quality Control

Dr. Adeeti Gupta has been a practicing OB/GYN in the NY area for over 15 years.  

She trained in India and the UK, and graduated from Flushing Hospital in 2004. After graduation, she stayed on as faculty and Associate program director before turning on her entrepreneurial spirit to become the founder the nation’s first ever Walk-In Centers for Women’s health. She pioneered this concept and currently has five busy locations in NYC and surrounding boroughs. She also specializes in sexual health  and Integrative Medicine. Caring for all women with compassion and women’s empowerment through preventative holistic health care are some of the core values that she promulgates.  She is also actively involved in teaching residents, mentoring students, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other providers to improve access and quality of women’s health by education one small step at a time.  Additionally, Dr. Gupta is the Director of Performance Improvement and Quality Control. As part of her role, she conducts various PI projects to help improve outcomes in gynecologic care.  Finally, Dr. Gupta is a Presidential Leadership Scholar strives to change women’s health and build a better future for all.  

 

Ervin Rene Riano-Marin, MD

Associate Program Director

Associate Program Director Dr. Riano was raised in Bogota, Colombia.  After graduating from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Medical School, he spent time performing research at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, OR before coming to Flushing. He is a proud graduate of the Flushing Hospital Medical Center OB-GYN Residency Program. He is also a member of the APGO Surgical Education Scholar Program, and has multiple publications.  He has vast experience in both obstetrics and gynecology, with expertise in minimally invasive surgery methods. Dr. Riano has been the bed rock of the residency program and is excited to bring even further improvements to the curriculum.

Ivan Ngai, MD

Director of Obstetric Quality Improvement

Dr. Ivan Ngai is director of Obstetric Quality Improvement and a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist. He completed his medical degree at Albany Medical College in 2003. Afterwards, He completed both his residency in OB/Gyn and fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center/ Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. He has worked at multiple academic tertiary center prior to joining Flushing Hospital Medical Center and Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in 2018. He brings with him vast knowledge on prenatal diagnosis of congenital fetal malformations. He is also a native New Yorker who has a passion in taking care of the underserve population.

Alejandro Alcaide, MD, FACOG

Director of Gynecology

Dr. Alcaide graduated from Penn State University Medical School and completed residency at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. He has been an integral part of Flushing Hospital Medical Center for over 20 years and plays a large role in resident education and training.  Particularly, he has extensive experience and expertise in minimally invasive surgery and urogynecology.  He is an extremely high-volume robotic surgeon, and is enthusiastic in teaching his skills to the residents.

INGRID Flores , MD

Ipsita Chauhan MBBS, MD

Attending Physician

Dr. Ipsita Chauhan has her roots back in India where she finished medical school from Grant Medical College and Sir J. J. Group of Hospitals, Mumbai. After a brief learning experience in the National Institutes of Health she decided to pursue her postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the USA. She finished her residency from Flushing Hospital Medical Center in 2016 and then became part of the core faculty. Presently she has Faculty positions at both Flushing and Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. She is fluent in Hindi and has a desire to focus on the underserved population of Queens.

Henry Lam, MD

Director of Clinical / Medical Students Education

Dr. Henry Lam has been Director of Clinical / Medical Students Education and Clerkship Director for Medical Students since 2000. He finished his residency at NYU Hospital. Dr. Lam is board certified and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He received multiple teaching awards including Clinical Faculty teaching award from American University of Caribbean School of Medicine, CREOG Faculty award for excellence of resident education and best teaching medical students award. He is well respected in the community and has been serving mainly Asian population for over 20 years.

Weiping Lin, D.O.

Dr. Weiping Lin, D.O. graduated from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California with a degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. He received residency training at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr Lin is a board certified obstetric and gynecologist. He is a general practitioner with special expertise in hysteroscopic surgery and management of abnormal uterine bleeding from hormonal and anatomical (fibroid and polyp) causes. Dr. Lin accept both pregnant and nonpregnant patients.

Beiyu Liu, MD

Attending Physician

Dr. Beiyu Liu is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist practicing at Flushing Hospital Medical Center since 2019. She earned her Medical Degree from the University of South China in 2009, followed by post graduate training in Reproductive Medicine and Endocrinology at Sun Yat-sen University, China. Subsequently she did medical research at Sheffield University, UK. She completed her Ob-Gyn Residency training at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai–BronxCare Hospital. Dr. Liu speaks fluent Chinese Mandarin.

Her expertise includes pregnancy and gynecologic-related healthcare issues and has a particular interest in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Jae Ryu, MD

Dr. Jae Ryu has been a member of the faculty practice at Flushing Hospital since 2002. She received her medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital. She is board certified and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is fluent in Korean has been providing quality care in women’s health to the patients in the community.

Surya Sekar, MD

Dr. Sekar is currently holding a faculty position as an Attending Physician in Flushing Hospital Medical Center OGBYN Women’s Health Ambulatory Care Center.

After graduating from Stanley Medical School in India Dr. Sekar completed her Residency at Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn in Queens, New York. Dr. Sekar is Board Certified and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrician and Gynecology as well as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Sekar is well respected in the Flushing Hospital Medical Center Community. Dr. Sekar previously had a busy practice in which many patients have continued to seek my care at my location.

Xiao Hui Wang, MD

Attending Physician

Dr. Xiao Hui Wang joined the faculty in 2012.

She earned her M.D. at Shandong University in China and her Ph.D. degree at Peking University, where she also completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology. At the University of British Columbia in Canada, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow, focusing her research on placental endocrinology.

Pursuing her passion for women’s healthcare, Dr. Wang completed her residency training at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in New York. Since then, she has been continuously providing professional, quality medical care for women, serving patients from different ethnic backgrounds in this diverse community.
