Overview

Flushing Hospital's Internal Medicine Residency Program is affiliated with State University of New York- Downstate and accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. The program has 56 residents, 44 categorical and 12 preliminary year.

Residency training at Flushing Hospital is an educational experience, in a congenial and nurturing environment, that emphasizes high standards of ethics and professionalism. Residents are expected to be caring, competent, ethical, intellectually curious, and passionate about medicine. They will be prepared for successfully continuing with a fellowship training program or entering a medical practice. This is accomplished by carrying out scholarly activities and demonstrating and demanding clinical excellence.

A review by ABIM, praised the program for theDepartment of Medicine's dedicated faculty, electronic evaluation system, extensive record keeping, and multicultural access by patients of different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
