The Department of Pediatrics offers a wide range of services to newborns, children, and adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient settings.  Offering a comprehensive range of services, the department is fully staffed by pediatricians specializing in primary care, adolescent medicine and a broad range of pediatric subspecialties.

The Pediatric Emergency Department at Flushing Hospital Medical Center has over 12,000 visits annually.  Our child-friendly department including patient triage and waiting room,is separate from the adult emergency department.  Flushing Hospital employs Board Certified pediatricians who specialize in providing emergency medical care to children from infancy to 21 years of age.  These highly qualified pediatricians and nurses possess certifications including Basic Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support.

Using skill, compassion and advanced technology, the Flushing Hospital’s Department of Pediatrics provides care for acute and chronic illnesses to infants, children and young adults on our dedicated, 28 bed pediatrics unit on the fourth floor of the main building.

All patient rooms on the pediatric floor are outfitted to ensure the comfort and safety of both our patients and parents. The floor has a fully equipped playroom including a library and a computer, and an audiovisual room stocked with the most current selection of media. Our certified Child Life Specialists help children cope with illness, trauma and stress. The department's multi-ethnic, multi-lingual staff enhances their ability to communicate with and serve its youngest patients.

Flushing Hospital also offers a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, located on the 5th floor of the hospital. This highly specialized unit, staffed by a highly trained neonatal intensive care team provides 24 hour care to premature of medical compromised infants.
