Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Orlando Santandreu, MD
Dr. Orlando Santandreu is Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Flushing Hospital Medical Center. A lifelong Queens resident and second-generation obstetrician-gynecologist, he brings more than 25 years of experience in women’s healthcare, including 18 years previously serving at Flushing Hospital. Dr. Santandreu earned his medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez and completed residency training in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Internal Medicine at Seton Hall University. He is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and specializes in urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain disorders, and comprehensive obstetric care. He is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care and advancing women’s health services for the diverse communities of Queens.

Ipsita Chauhan MBBS, MD
Dr. Ipsita Chauhan received her medical degree from Grant Medical College and Sir J. J. Group of Hospitals in Mumbai, India. Following a research experience at the National Institutes of Health, she pursued residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, where she graduated in 2016 and subsequently joined the faculty. She currently serves as Program Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Flushing Hospital Medical Center. As a board-certified general obstetrician-gynecologist, her academic interests include menopause, obesity, and medical education.. She is passionate about resident education, mentorship, and physician well-being, and is committed to fostering a supportive learning environment while advancing academic scholarship. Dr. Chauhan is dedicated to providing compassionate care to the diverse and underserved communities of Queens and is fluent in Hindi.

Pegah Aalami-Harandi, DO
Dr. Pegah Aalami completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Engineering at Cornell University before pursuing and earning her medical degree from NYIT College Of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Medical College/St. Joseph's University Medical Center. She has extensive experience in both obstetrics and gynecology and currently serves as Associate Program Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Flushing Hospital Medical Center. Throughout her career, alongside her clinical responsibilities and patient care, she has remained deeply committed to residents' clinical education, surgical training, research, and well-being.

Ervin Rene Riano-Marin, MD
Ervin Rene Riano-Marin, MD
Dr. Rene Riano is a graduate of Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Medical School in Bogota, Colombia, after which he spent time performing research at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, OR. He completed his residency training in 2015 at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, following which he joined the faculty. Dr. Riano is also a member of the APGO Surgical Education Scholar Program and has multiple publications. He has vast experience in both obstetrics and gynecology and was bestowed Surgeon of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation. Dr. Riano has been the bedrock of the residency program and continuously brings further improvements to the department and the residency program.

Director of Gynecology
Alejandro Alcaide, MD, FACOG
Dr. Alcaide graduated from Penn State University Medical School and completed residency at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. He has been an integral part of Flushing Hospital Medical Center for over 20 years and plays a large role in resident education and training. Particularly, he has extensive experience and expertise in minimally invasive surgery and urogynecology. He is an extremely high-volume robotic surgeon, and is enthusiastic in teaching his skills to the residents.

Director of Clinical / Medical Students Education
Henry Lam, MD
Dr. Henry Lam has been Director of Clinical / Medical Students Education and Clerkship Director for Medical Students since 2000. He finished his residency at NYU Hospital. Dr. Lam is board certified and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He received multiple teaching awards including Clinical Faculty teaching award from American University of Caribbean School of Medicine, CREOG Faculty award for excellence of resident education and best teaching medical students award. He is well respected in the community and has been serving mainly Asian population for over 20 years.

Beiyu Liu, MD
Dr. Beiyu Liu has been practicing at Flushing Hospital Medical Center since 2019. She is a board-certified OB/GYN and holds the ABOG Focused Practice Designation in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS). She earned her medical degree from the University of South China and completed postgraduate training in Reproductive Medicine and Endocrinology at Sun Yat-sen University. Dr. Liu later conducted medical research at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom and completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai–BronxCare Hospital. She has received APGO teaching awards in recognition of her contributions to medical student and resident education. Dr. Liu is committed to providing individualized, evidence-based care and helping patients understand the full range of treatment options available to them.

Megan Deyarmond, MD
Dr. Megan Deyarmond received her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, and completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Inova Medical Center in Northern Virginia. Dr. Deyarmond enjoys the breadth of general obstetrics and gynecology and is passionate about resident education, mentorship, and physician well-being. She is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to the diverse communities we serve.

Xiao Hui Wang, MD
Xiao Hui Wang, MD
Dr. Xiao Hui Wang joined the faculty in 2012.
She earned her M.D. at Shandong University in China and her Ph.D. degree at Peking University, where she also completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology. At the University of British Columbia in Canada, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow, focusing her research on placental endocrinology.
Pursuing her passion for women’s healthcare, Dr. Wang completed her residency training at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in New York. Since then, she has been continuously providing professional, quality medical care for women, serving patients from different ethnic backgrounds in this diverse community.

Jae Ryu, MD
Dr. Jae Ryu has been a member of the faculty practice at Flushing Hospital since 2002. She received her medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital. She is board certified and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is fluent in Korean has been providing quality care in women’s health to the patients in the community.
