Volunteer Information

The Volunteer Services Department is dedicated to enhancing patient experience by providing compassionate, non-clinical care throughout the hospital. Our volunteers  are at the heart of the hospital. They play a vital role in creating a welcoming supportive environment, allowing our clinical teams to focus on the continued delivery of exceptional patient care. Through volunteer service, our volunteers gain meaningful experience, develop valuable skills, and make a lasting impact on the lives of the people we serve.

Benefits of Volunteering:

  • Support patients, families, and hospital staff
  • Gain insight, exploration, and hands-on experience in a healthcare setting
  • Build confidence, critical skills, and professional connections
  • Give back to the community in a purposeful and meaningful way.

Flushing Hospital volunteers are assigned to various roles throughout the hospital. Some of their responsibilities include comforting patients, helping families, and assisting medical and administrative staff with non-clinical tasks. Volunteers assist our staff in the delivery of comprehensive health care services to our multicultural community. Individuals become volunteers for a wide range of reasons; personal fulfillment, school requirements, educational advancement, spiritual or community mindedness, and/or social networking. The hospital provides everyone with an opportunity to fulfill these needs and in return, reaps the rewards of their dedicated service.
