The Developmental and Behavioral Pediatric Department at Flushing Hospital is devoted to helping children and adolescents reach their full potential. Developmental behavioral pediatricians evaluate and manage children, adolescents and their families with a wide range of developmental and behavioral difficulties.
Common diagnoses identified and managed include
-Autism spectrum disorder
-Intellectual disability
-Learning disorders
-Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
-Developmental language disorder
-Cerebral Palsy
Other common issues like sleep, feeding and discipline concerns, bed wetting (enuresis) and soiling (encopresis) are also managed.
Depending on the concern, each child receives a medical evaluation and a comprehensive assessment which may include developmental, learning, and psychosocial assessments. Families are provided, as needed, ongoing diagnostic work up, medication management, behavioral counseling as well as recommendations for developmental interventions, learning supports, and mental health follow up.
All services are provided using a family focused approach and most insurance plans are accepted.
