If you require any of these procedures, Flushing Hospital is an excellent place to receive anesthesia care in NY.
Our Queens anesthesiologists use precise treatment protocols to ensure the absolute comfort and safety of every patient. Flushing Hospital’s Department of Anesthesiology is equipped to provide specialized anesthesiology services tailored to each procedure and according to each patient’s needs.
General Anesthesia
Used for major or complex surgeries that require a patient to be fully unconscious and free of pain, such as abdominal, orthopedic, cancer, neurosurgical, or emergency procedures.
Regional Anesthesia
Used to numb a specific part of the body—such as during childbirth, joint surgery, or limb procedures—allowing patients to remain awake or lightly sedated while pain is controlled.
Full Sedation
Used for shorter or minimally invasive procedures like endoscopy, dental surgery, imaging, or minor outpatient treatments to keep patients deeply relaxed and comfortable without full unconsciousness.
Before any anesthesiology procedure begins, the anesthesiologist coordinates with both the surgeon and the patient to develop an anesthetic plan based on the type of procedure being performed and the patient’s medical history.
The goal is to minimize any risks while ensuring the smoothest outcome.
The Flushing Hospital anesthesiology team is also actively involved in minimizing postoperative pain, administering local anesthesia and intravenous pain medications as needed.
All of Flushing Hospital’s anesthesiologists are licensed doctors with years of hands-on clinical experience. They are happy to answer questions and help patients to understand pain control measures and what they should expect when receiving anesthesia care in our Queens hospital.
