The Division of Obstetrics at Flushing Hospital Medical Center is staffed by Board Certified physicians who work side by side with a team of caring and compassionate nurses and other specially trained support staff. The entire team at Flushing Hospital is dedicated to providing the highest quality care to both mother and baby throughout the prenatal care period, delivery, and postpartum care.
Flushing Hospital recently renovated and expanded our entire mother baby unit to provide you with the most comfortable and relaxing environment to experience childbirth. Appropriately titled our “New Beginnings” unit, this area includes our new Labor, Delivery, and Recovery (LDR) suites, which will provide a home-like atmosphere for the entire family. In addition, our new, private mother-baby postpartum rooms offer many convenient amenities.
Flushing Hospital understands that not all pregnancies are the same and for that reason we offer many specialized services through our division of Maternal Fetal Medicine to meet all your pregnancy needs.
MATERNAL FETAL MEDICINE
The Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) at Flushing Hospital provides the highest quality care to expectant mothers with high-risk health conditions. Our team of Board Certified MFM physicians, nurses, technicians, and genetic counselors manage high-risk pregnancies for women with a range of medical conditions including diabetes, hypertension, or asthma and a variety of other critical care issues. The MFM team also offers expertise treating multiple births as well as pregnancies that are complicated by fetal structural, functional, or genetic abnormalities. The MFM team works closely with your general obstetrician to achieve the best outcome for you and your baby.
Flushing Hospital’s MFM diagnostic unit has the latest GE ultrasound equipment with 3D imaging ability to provide the best evaluation of every pregnancy and is staffed by registered nurses and sonographers with many years of experience.

- Nuchal Translucency
- Fetal Anatomy survey
- Fetal growth evaluation
- Transvaginal Cervical Length
- Biophysical Profile with Non-stress Test
- Maternal Fetal Medicine Consultation by referral
The Fetal Diagnostic Unit also provide advance ultrasound services including:
- Amniocentesis: sampling of the amniotic fluid in the second trimester.
- Chorionic Villus Sampling: biopsy of the placenta in the first trimester
- Fetal anatomy ultrasound with consultation on congenital malformation
- Twin or multiple gestation pregnancy evaluation
- Fetal growth restriction with doppler evaluation
