{"id":6767,"date":"2021-05-26T15:20:47","date_gmt":"2021-05-26T15:20:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/?p=6767"},"modified":"2021-05-26T15:27:54","modified_gmt":"2021-05-26T15:27:54","slug":"employee-spotlight-lois-pettis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/employee-spotlight-lois-pettis\/","title":{"rendered":"Employee Spotlight &#8211; Lois Pettis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/lois-pettis-pic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-6768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/lois-pettis-pic-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This month\u2019s Flushing Hospital Medical Center\u2019s (FHMC) Employee Spotlight shines, once again, on Lois Pettis, LPN and Office Manager of the Wound Care Program.<\/p>\n<p>Lois is best known as a member of the Wound Care Team.\u00a0 Where a \u201cnormal\u201d day is spent scheduling patients, meeting with patients, speaking with insurance providers, family member and working on staffing issues.<\/p>\n<p>But, since January of 2020, days have been anything but normal.\u00a0 When the COVID-19 virus pandemic hit the Borough of Queens, Flushing Hospital became an epicenter for the care of COVID-19 patients.\u00a0 The Wound Care Department suspended treating patients and it was all hands-on deck to treat the patients being screened and diagnosed with COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Lois never wavered. \u00a0She was willing to help in any capacity necessary.\u00a0 She only went home after she contacted the COVID-19 virus herself.\u00a0 Thankfully, she has made a full recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, Lois has been a part of the vaccination team and has been an extremely valuable resource in managing the \u201cvaccination pod\u201d at FHMC.<\/p>\n<p>Lois is best known for her welcoming smile and gentle nature with our staff and patients.\u00a0 She is an asset to any department she has been a part of during these trying times.<\/p>\n<p>When asked what motivates her to do her job so well, Lois answers with a wide smile, \u201cThe patients! &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Thank you Lois Pettis. You are a valued Flushing Hospital Medical Center team player.
