{"id":6155,"date":"2020-09-22T18:56:34","date_gmt":"2020-09-22T18:56:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/?p=6155"},"modified":"2020-09-23T19:15:43","modified_gmt":"2020-09-23T19:15:43","slug":"employee-spotlight-nicole-torres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/employee-spotlight-nicole-torres\/","title":{"rendered":"Employee Spotlight &#8211; Nicole Torres"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/fhmc-employee-spotlight-september.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6157 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/fhmc-employee-spotlight-september.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"274\" height=\"202\" \/><\/a>September\u2019s Employee Spotlight shines on Nicole Torres.\u00a0 Nicole is a Care Coordinator at Flushing Hospital Medical Center (FHMC).\u00a0 As a Care Coordinator, Nicole provides appointments for high-risk patients, that are currently admitted, to ensure they receive the care they need in a timely manner.<\/p>\n<p>Nicole joined the FHMC team 3 \u00bd years ago as an Emergency Department Navigator.\u00a0\u00a0 Although her time at FHMC has been short, Nicole earned the respect of her colleagues especially when she was called upon to be part of the hospitals team during the peak of the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n<p>When working with patients and family members, Nicole utilizes her degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice where she earned a BA in Forensic Psychology.<\/p>\n<p>At home, Nicole enjoys baking, yoga and reading.\u00a0 She loves to travel, attend breast cancer and Alzheimer\u2019s walks and volunteering at after-school programs.<\/p>\n<p>Nicole feels the most rewarding part of her job is when a patient attends their post-discharge follow up care and the most challenging part is when patients refuse the recommended aftercare, thereby, putting their health at risk possibly causing them to be readmitted to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations!
