{"id":4655,"date":"2019-02-20T18:50:32","date_gmt":"2019-02-20T18:50:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/?p=4655"},"modified":"2024-05-09T03:33:07","modified_gmt":"2024-05-09T03:33:07","slug":"employee-spotlight-carmen-desuza-tobitt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/employee-spotlight-carmen-desuza-tobitt\/","title":{"rendered":"Employee Spotlight &#8211; Carmen DeSuza-Tobitt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Flushing Hospital Medical Center\u2019s (FHMC) February Employee Spotlight shines on Carmen DeSuza-Tobitt, ER, RN, Case Manager.\u00a0 Carmen has been an employee at FHMC for 30 years serving as a Case Manager, Registered Nurse and Pediatrics ICU Nurse.<\/p>\n<p>Denise James, Director of the Case Management and Social Work Department, describes Carmen as a \u201cDedicated, hardworking individual who goes above and beyond the call of duty.\u00a0 She is trustworthy, knowledgeable and shares her knowledge with her fellow case managers. To say that Carmen DeSuza-Tobitt exceeds the expectations of employees at FHMC\u2019s Case Management and Social Work Department would be an understatement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since Carmen is assigned to the Emergency Room, as part of her duties, she provides guidance to the healthcare team on meeting criteria for inpatient hospital stays and coordinating safe discharge plans.\u00a0 She also assists with post hospital-care in addition to providing social support to the patients and families.<\/p>\n<p>As a Case Manager, it is difficult for Carmen to see patients that require further aftercare and cannot afford it or are uninsured.\u00a0 It is during those times that Carmen rises to the occasion and addresses any challenge she is dealing with.\u00a0 Her main concern is making the appropriate decision for anyone entrusted in her care.\u00a0 She is committed to making the best out of any situation.<\/p>\n<p>When not at work Carmen enjoys spending time with her husband of 32 years and her 2 children.\u00a0 She is very active in her church, loves meeting and talking with people and watching TV, especially romantic movies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t believe in complaining as my dad always taught and reminded me how blessed I am.\u201d\u00a0 These are words that Carmen lives by.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations Carmen DeSuza-Tobitt on being February\u2019s Employee Spotlight!<\/p>\n<p class=\"disclaimer\">All content of this newsletter is intended for general information purposes only and is not intended or implied to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
