However, chronic constipation is a condition that may interfere with a person\u2019s capacity to go about their day to day routine.\u00a0 Many chronic constipation sufferers have less than three bowel movements per week, hard, lumpy stools and difficulty passing their stool.<\/p>\n<p>There are many health conditions that can lead to chronic constipation such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Irritable Bowel Syndrome<\/li>\n<li>Pregnancy<\/li>\n<li>Colon cancer<\/li>\n<li>Parkinson\u2019s Disease<\/li>\n<li>Underactive thyroid<\/li>\n<li>Eating disorders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additional causes for chronic constipation are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Changes to your diet<\/li>\n<li>Lack of water or fiber in your diet<\/li>\n<li>Consuming an overload of dairy products<\/li>\n<li>Not exercising enough<\/li>\n<li>Ignoring an urge to move your bowels<\/li>\n<li>Stress<\/li>\n<li>Overuse of laxatives<\/li>\n<li>Medication (i.e. iron supplements)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are several measures you can take to help with constipation such as, increasing the fiber and fluids in your diet.
