{"id":3802,"date":"2018-04-17T16:45:27","date_gmt":"2018-04-17T16:45:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/?p=3802"},"modified":"2024-05-09T03:33:13","modified_gmt":"2024-05-09T03:33:13","slug":"testicular-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/testicular-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"Testicular Cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although testicular cancer is a rare form of cancer, it is the most common type of cancer diagnosed in men between the ages of 15 and 35.<br \/>\nThere are a few risk factors to be considered for testicular cancer but they aren\u2019t definitive reasons men will be diagnosed with it. Caucasian males are at greater risk as are men with a family history of testicular cancer and also men who have abnormalities of testicular development.<br \/>\nSymptoms of testicular cancer<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Dull ache in the abdomen<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Pain in the groin<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Enlarged scrotum<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Pain in one or both testicles<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Back pain<br \/>\nThe diagnosis of testicular cancer is made through an ultrasound exam and a\u00a0 blood test for cancer markers, or surgical intervention surgery if there is a lump. If the diagnosis is positive, it is important to identify the stage, which is determined through\u00a0 a CT scan, MRI, chest x-ray and a blood test,\u00a0 and whether it has spread to other parts of the body. If caught in its early stages it can be treated successfully.
