They will feel that by not giving in to these impulses will cause something bad to happen, which can raise their stress and anxiety.<br \/>\nTraits of Obsessive Compulsive Disorders fall into themes:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Washers\u00a0 \u2013 have a fear of germs makes them wash their hands\u00a0 over and over<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Checkers \u2013 will check to make sure a door is locked more than once<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Doubters and sinners \u2013 fearful that harm will occur to someone if everything isn\u2019t done correctly<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Counters and arrangers \u2013 everything has to be in a certain order or something will go wrong<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Hoarders \u2013 hold on to everything so that nothing bad will occur<br \/>\nThere are three main theories as to what causes obsessive compulsive disorder:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Biology \u2013 caused by changes in the body\u2019s chemical make-up or the way the brain functions.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Environment \u2013 causes a person to respond to a triggering event that leads to the obsessive compulsive behavior.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Genetics \u2013 may contribute to a person\u2019s susceptibility to OCD and also a certain level of stress in a person\u2019s life may be a factor.<br \/>\nWhat should a person do if they feel they may have obsessive compulsive disorder? The first step is to identify what traits they feel they are exhibiting that may be out of the ordinary. Consulting with a primary care physician about symptoms is a good place to begin.
