{"id":2947,"date":"2017-05-31T19:36:53","date_gmt":"2017-05-31T19:36:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/?p=2947"},"modified":"2024-05-09T03:33:09","modified_gmt":"2024-05-09T03:33:09","slug":"world-no-tobacco-day-at-fhmc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/world-no-tobacco-day-at-fhmc\/","title":{"rendered":"World No Tobacco Day at FHMC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>May 31, 2017, is World No Tobacco Day.\u00a0 On this day, the World Health Organization (WHO) asks that healthcare providers highlight the negative effects that smoking can have on a person\u2019s health.\u00a0 This year\u2019s theme is \u201cTobacco \u2013 a threat to development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Flushing Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) is participating in World No Tobacco Day by hosting an educational forum on how to quit smoking and the negative effects smoking has on your health.\u00a0 The informational forum was provided for employees, hospital visitors and community members.<\/p>\n<p>To further help those who want to quit, the FHMC Smoking Cessation Team can host classes in both English and Spanish and work out an individualized quit plan the Asian Community to help make the transition from smoker to non-smoker\u00a0easier.<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in quitting, you can contact the Flushing Hospital Medical Center\u2019s Smoking Cessation Navigators.
