{"id":2463,"date":"2016-12-14T21:48:38","date_gmt":"2016-12-14T21:48:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/?p=2463"},"modified":"2024-05-09T03:33:10","modified_gmt":"2024-05-09T03:33:10","slug":"easy-bake-butter-cookies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/easy-bake-butter-cookies\/","title":{"rendered":"Low Sugar, Easy Bake Oatmeal Cherry Cookies Cookies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the holidays approaching, we are talking about food and baking much for often than any other time of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Colleagues are bringing in their homemade bakes cookies These comforting and joyous morsels make great snacks\u00a0and are sweet enough to satisfy the sweetest of sweet tooths.<\/p>\n<p>But, oh the sugar and calories!<\/p>\n<p>With regard to calories and nutrition, cookies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Depending on their ingredients, can have varying number of calories.<\/li>\n<li>Most of these calories are associated with sugar and fats used to make them.<\/li>\n<li>The nutrients \u00a0are also dependent on the ingredients used.<\/li>\n<li>The nutritional details \u00a0are usually available on the nutritional label on the back of the cookie box.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are a &#8220;cookie monster&#8221; and want to indulge\u00a0without any of the guilt, try these Oatmeal Cherry Cookies from <\/p>\n<p>Oatmeal Cherry Cookies<\/p>\n<div class=\"slide-text\">\n<p>1 c whole grain pastry flour<br \/>\n1 tsp baking powder<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp ground cinnamon<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp baking soda<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp salt<br \/>\n\u00bd c packed brown sugar<br \/>\n\u2153 c granulated sugar<br \/>\n\u00bc c unsweetened applesauce<br \/>\n2 Tbsp canola oil<br \/>\n1 lg egg<br \/>\n1 tsp vanilla extract<br \/>\n1\u00bd c old-fashioned rolled oats<br \/>\n\u00be c dried cherries<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. PREHEAT<\/strong> the oven to 375\u00b0F. Coat 2 large baking sheets with cooking spray.<br \/>\n<strong>2. COMBINE<\/strong> the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl.<br \/>\n<strong>3. COMBINE<\/strong> the brown sugar and granulated sugar, applesauce, oil, egg, and vanilla in a large bowl. Stir until well blended. Add the flour mixture and stir until combined. Stir in the oats and cherries.<br \/>\n<strong>4. DROP <\/strong>the batter by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2&#8243; apart, onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
