By focusing on the music and its melody, you will start to feel your breathing and heart rate begin to slow down, bringing you to a much calmer place<\/li>\n<li><strong>Plan a trip<\/strong> \u2013 According to research, happiness spikes when planning a trip.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Put down your smartphone<\/strong> \u2013 When the impulse to pick up your phone comes, and you resist it, you may feel a wave of anxiety.\u00a0 Don\u2019t panic! Breath through the anxiety and you will see that there is calm that will follow.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Breathe deeply<\/strong> \u2013 Sit in a comfortable place, breathe naturally and settle your attention on your breath.\u00a0 With each inhale and exhale, mentally repeat the words \u201cin\u201d and \u201cout.\u201d\u00a0 Even if you mind wanders, don\u2019t get distracted; just bring your attention back to your breathing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t check your email when you first wake up<\/strong> \u2013 When you wake, sit silently and allow your mind to wander.
