{"id":2222,"date":"2016-09-07T21:03:38","date_gmt":"2016-09-07T21:03:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/?p=2222"},"modified":"2024-05-09T03:33:10","modified_gmt":"2024-05-09T03:33:10","slug":"healthy-eating-on-the-go","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/healthy-eating-on-the-go\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthy Eating On-The-Go"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Juggling home and work is a struggle and maintaining healthy eating habits while we are on-the-go can add to its level of difficulty.\u00a0 Or should it?<\/p>\n<p>Here are some tips that may make your hectic lifestyle somewhat simpler by planning meals on-the-go:<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>Plan your menu<\/strong><\/strong> \u2013 Planning meals well in advance will help make sure your meals are healthier and well-balanced.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>Avoid fast food baked goods for breakfast<\/strong><\/strong> \u2013 Instead of choosing a wholesome \u201clooking\u201d muffin, reach for a yogurt smoothie.\u00a0 It will provide you with vitamin C and potassium, high fiber and keep you full from breakfast to lunch.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>Prepare Coffee or Tea at home<\/strong><\/strong> \u2013 While waiting in line at your local coffee shop, you may be more apt to choose an unhealthy breakfast choice.\u00a0 Skip the impulse purchase and brew your coffee or tea at home.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>Eat lunch<\/strong><\/strong> &#8211; When you\u2019re busy, it\u2019s easy to lose track of time and skip lunch.\u00a0 No matter how heavy your workload, make time to leave the office and eat your brown bagged lunch.\u00a0 Starving through lunch will only lead to overeating later.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>Dine-out<\/strong><\/strong> \u2013 You are bound to grab a meal outside of home due to family activities and busy schedules.\u00a0 That doesn\u2019t mean you have to leave your healthy choices behind.\u00a0 Eat moderately and divide your plate into two servings.\u00a0 Ask for a bag to take your leftovers home.\u00a0 Only eat until you are satisfied, not stuffed.<\/p>\n<p>Eating on the run is never ideal, but it will inevitably happen to most of us.\u00a0 You need to prioritize time to eat healthy and although a home cooked meal isn\u2019t always possible, that doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t make good choices on the go.<\/p>\n<p class=\"disclaimer\">All content of this newsletter is intended for general information purposes only and is not intended or implied to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
