{"id":1772,"date":"2016-03-29T16:55:35","date_gmt":"2016-03-29T16:55:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/?p=1772"},"modified":"2024-05-09T03:33:11","modified_gmt":"2024-05-09T03:33:11","slug":"chicken-and-dumplings-slow-cooker-recipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flushinghospital.org\/newsletter\/chicken-and-dumplings-slow-cooker-recipe\/","title":{"rendered":"CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS SLOW-COOKER RECIPE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you love using your slow- cooker, try this chicken, potatoes, carrots, and celery in a creamy sauce recipe topped with tender dumplings.\u00a0 It\u2019s easy to make and delicious.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Makes:<\/strong>\u00a08 servings<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prep:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>20 mins<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cook:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>8 hrs<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>INGREDIENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6\u00a0skinless, boneless chicken breast halves (about 1 1\/2 pounds), cut into 1-inch pieces<\/li>\n<li>2\u00a0medium Yukon gold potatoes, cut into 1-inch pieces (about 2 cups)<\/li>\n<li>2\u00a0cups\u00a0whole baby carrots<\/li>\n<li>2\u00a0stalks celery, sliced (about 1 cup)<\/li>\n<li>2 10 3\/4\u00a0ounce\u00a0can\u00a0Campbell&#8217;s\u00ae Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup (Regular or 98% Fat Free)<\/li>\n<li>1\u00a0cup\u00a0water<\/li>\n<li>1\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0dried thyme leaves, crushed<\/li>\n<li>1\/4\u00a0teaspoon\u00a0ground black pepper<\/li>\n<li>2\u00a0cups\u00a0all-purpose baking mix<\/li>\n<li>2\/3\u00a0cup\u00a0milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>DIRECTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Place the chicken, potatoes, carrots and celery into a 6-quart slow cooker.<\/li>\n<li>Stir the soup, water, thyme and black pepper in a small bowl. Pour the soup mixture over the chicken and vegetables.<\/li>\n<li>Cover and cook on LOW for 7 to 8 hours* or until the chicken is cooked through.<\/li>\n<li>Stir the baking mix and milk in a medium bowl. Drop the batter by spoonfuls onto the chicken mixture. Increase the heat to HIGH. Tilt the lid to vent and cook for 30 minutes or until the dumplings are cooked in the center. *Or on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>SERVING\u00a0 SUGGESTION TIP<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve with spinach salad; baby spinach leaves topped with orange sections, dried cranberries and raspberry-pecan vinaigrette.
