Department of Emergency Medicine

Flushing Hospital's Department of Emergency Medicine provides round-the-clock expert care for all adult and pediatric, medical, surgical and OB/GYN emergencies. There is a separate Cardiac Emergency Area for a quick response to suspected heart attacks and a self-contained Pediatric Emergency Division staffed by Board Certified Pediatricians.

Flushing Hospital Medical Centers' Emergency Department currently treats over 40,000 patients each year and is a NYS Designated Stroke Center and a Designated Hypothermia resuscitation receiving hospital within the 911 system.

In addition, the Department of Emergency Medicine, in cooperation with the Department of Nursing, offers courses in emergency care, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support.
